The 2017 season saw an exciting inter-team battle between Pérez and his teammate, Esteban Ocon. The 2017 season was the first of two fairly turbulent years alongside Ocon; Pérez often came out on top between the pair, beating him in the standings and in qualifying. However, it was by no means an easy running for Pérez as the duo collided numerous times throughout the season, with the most memorable and destructive clash at Spa.
The 2017 Spanish Grand Prix saw another close call between the drivers, but once more - Pérez beat Ocon to the mark. The Mexican ace claimed the fourth spot and secured 10 points for the team, with Ocon following close behind in fifth.
