Haas History
Haas F1 Team entered Formula 1® in 2016, becoming the first American constructor to compete in the championship since the mid-1980s, under the ownership of Gene Haas.
Its first race provided an immediate statement. Romain Grosjean finished sixth at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix before going one better with fifth place in Bahrain. Haas ended its debut campaign eighth in the Constructors’ Championship with 29 points.
Progress continued over the seasons that followed. With Grosjean joined by Kevin Magnussen, Haas achieved its strongest Constructors’ Championship finish in 2018, taking fifth place after a campaign that regularly put the team into the points. Grosjean’s fourth-place finish in Austria that year also became one of Haas’ best Grand Prix results.
Another standout arrived in 2022. Returning to the team after a year away, Magnussen delivered fifth place at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix before producing one of Haas’ most memorable qualifying performances later that year, securing the team’s first F1® pole position in São Paulo.
A new phase began under Team Principal Ayao Komatsu in 2024, followed by a completely new driver pairing for 2025 as Esteban Ocon joined rookie Oliver Bearman. Bearman went on to equal Haas’ best Grand Prix finish with fourth place in Mexico during his first full season.
Now into its second decade of Formula 1® competition, Haas continues to build on a story that began with an immediate points finish in Australia and has since produced distinctive drivers, cars and moments across the F1® calendar.
