Why Williams

Founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and engineer Patrick Head, Williams Racing quickly grew into one of the sport’s most successful and influential institutions. Every car carries the FW initials, now up to the FW47, as a tribute to Frank Williams enduring influence and legacy. 

Williams celebrated its first Grand Prix victory at Silverstone in 1977, the beginning of a golden era. Over the next two decades, the team would go on to win nine Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ Championships, cementing itself as one of Formula 1’s true powerhouses. Only Ferrari has achieved more Constructors’ titles.

Midway through 2017, he moved to Renault before joining McLaren in 2019, in the midst their own rebuilding phase. His partnership with young teammate Lando Norris helped guide the team’s resurgence. That same season, he delivered McLaren’s first podium in five years, achieved at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix after starting from the back of the grid. Sainz joined Scuderia Ferrari in 2021 and in his first season, outscored teammate Charles Leclerc, finishing fifth in the Drivers’ Championship.
