At the end of the 2004 season, it was announced that Red Bull (a drinks company) would be buying Jaguar Racing from Ford for the 2005 season.
I wonder what happened next?
From the very first moment Red Bull rocked up to the circuit – there was obviously something different about them. They refused to fit the mould set by other teams. They were an energy drink, with a thirty-year-old team principle and were broadly known around the paddock as the ‘party team’.
20 years on and Red Bull Racing is still renowned for their daring stunts and jovial antics off circuit. But when on track... they take things more seriously than anyone else.
That is what this piece encapsulates. 20 years of success and 20 years of fun.
Red Bull gave the following official statement: “Oracle Red Bull Racing commissioned international sports artist Jamie Cooper to create a dynamic artwork that endeavoured to capture the history, spirit and culture of our beloved racing team. This weighty task has been three years in the making, lifting the veil on a magical Grand Prix garage scene, featuring people and moments from throughout Red Bull’s 20 years in racing.”
The RB01 to the left, the RB20 to the right and thousands of memories in between. The artist, Jamie Cooper, has captured the real essence of Red Bull and all of the people that make it so special. Featuring each and every driver, as well as key personnel like Christian Horner, Dietrich Mateschitz, Adrian Newey, Dr Marko and many, many more that deserve to be name-dropped.
Jamie Cooper, the proud artist responsible for the painting, said: “It’s an honour to be entrusted with the responsibility of producing an artwork of this significance. As a former professional athlete in Australia, I have a deep understanding of the connection between fans and their team, a connection that goes way beyond the boundaries, in this case, of the race track. It is a family, a community.
“I‘ve spent 35 years honing this skill, creating unique artworks for many of the world’s largest sporting organisations. My speciality has been producing paintings, in which I painstakingly piece together hundreds of images from different times, to create one impossible yet believable ‘Dream Scene’.
“As Formula One fans, wouldn’t we love to walk amongst them, as they celebrate the greatest race of all. Well, come with me and imagine if you will…”
Every single part of this painting has been meticulously thought through. Each piece connects to a part of Red Bull and their history – with a plethora of easter eggs for you to discover. The more you look – the more you’ll find! Thankfully, this ‘Dream Scene’ comes with a 28-page colour booklet that explains the golden nuggets, and what their significance is.
This superb lithograph has been meticulously reproduced from the original artwork. Printed onto 300gsm hi quality art paper.
Honour the short, yet full, history of Red Bull Racing with this rich tapestry.
