LOT 043 - Lewis Hamilton 2017 Official Replica Helmet with Signed Visor
Auction Details
Story
With seven World Championships and more than 100 race victories to his name, Lewis Hamilton is undeniably one of the great F1® drivers of all time. Now, you have the rare opportunity to own a piece of signed memorabilia from the British legend.
This replica helmet authentically recreates the design worn by Hamilton during the 2017 F1® season and features a special signed visor.
A Silver Legacy
Lewis Hamilton joined Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1® Team in 2013, following six seasons with McLaren, whom he became a World Champion with in 2008. Joining Nico Rosberg, his childhood friend and on-track challenger at the Silver Arrows team, Hamilton would go on to become more than just a Champion.
In 2013, his first year with the team, Hamilton proved his capabilities in the car, claiming four podiums plus a race win in Hungary (as it stands in 2025, Hamilton holds the record for the most victories at the Hungaroring, with eight wins at the track). He finished fourth in the Drivers’ Championship. What was to come in the following seasons became legend.
In 2014, Hamilton claimed his first World Championship with Mercedes, and his second overall. The team also secured their first ever Constructors’ World Championship. This victory marked the beginning of a streak of titles for the both of them. Hamilton went on to claim the title again in 2015. In 2016, his teammate clinched his first and only title, before retiring. Following that season, Lewis would win in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
In 2017, Hamilton claimed nine victories, seeing him soar to the top of the Standings with 363 points in total, beating his closest rival, Sebastian Vettel, by 46 points.
An Iconic Design
Hamilton’s helmet designs have often incorporated yellow, a colour that the driver has used since childhood. In 2017 it showcased yellow with red around the sides and back. Sponsorship branding included PETRONAS, Monster Energy, Epson, and Wihuri.
The design was created by Raí Caldato, a Brazilian designer, following a fan competition that Hamilton ran. The helmet featured a tribute to Ayrton Senna, a Champion who Hamilton has always claimed to be his racing hero, with the colours of the Brazilian flag on the side. It also featured three stars which symbolise Hamilton three titles in 2008, 2014 and 2015.
