Niki Lauda 1984 McLaren F1® Team Framed Print – Portuguese Grand Prix

This framed print pays tribute to the F1® legend, Niki Lauda, and the moment he claimed victory at the 1984 Portuguese Grand Prix. In a defining moment, Lauda became a three-time World Champion at the race held at Estoril. 

The Grand Prix marked the sixteenth round of the race calendar and the season finale, whilst also being the first World Championship F1® race to be held there since 1960. Lauda needed to secure second place to seize his third title, and when Nigel Mansell spun out with 18 laps to go, the Austrian Champion moved up. Crossing the finish line in second, Lauda beat his closest rival – and teammate – to the Championship by half a point, despite the Frenchman winning the race. 

This special print depicts Lauda and the race he claimed his third and final World Championship in Formula One®, becoming one of the sport’s greatest of all time. His seasons with McLaren between 1982 and 1985 marked his comeback to the sport, with the driver retiring at the end of the 1985 season and forever becoming a racing legend. Lauda’s influence would spread throughout the sport for decades to come.
