Story
The F138 was Ferrari’s entry for the 2013 Formula 1® World Championship. Its name combined the year (“13”) with the number of cylinders (“8”), as it was the final Ferrari car built to the V8 engine regulations before the move to hybrid V6 power in 2014. The car was launched at Maranello on 1st February 2013.
Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa drove the F138, which began the season strongly with Alonso securing victory at the Chinese and Spanish Grands Prix. However, development struggles later in the season saw Ferrari fall behind Red Bull Racing in performance. Despite this, the F138 helped Ferrari secure 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship, with Alonso finishing runner-up in the Drivers’ standings.
